About Me

Like most people, I didn’t know what life was going to look like as I sat among the sea of purple caps on my college graduation day. I spent four and a half years preparing for the future and wishing the studying away, and I didn’t know what tomorrow would look like. And, surprisingly, I found a lot of peace in that. Instead of being afraid of the unknowns and the fact that I was graduating with a lot of debt and without a job, I decided to look at it as a blank slate. A chance to become anyone and anything. They called my name, and as I finally received my empty diploma holder I made a promise to myself: I will live a creative life.

A couple months later, COVID-19 hit. I lost the job I’d lined up and suddenly the freedom I’d felt on graduation day seemed scarier, dangerous. I sulked for the first couple of weeks at home, and then one morning I remembered the promise I’d made to myself. My quarantine days were then spent going back to my roots and re-discovering the things that make me, me. I picked up a novel for the first time in at least a year. And I laced up my hiking books and hit the trail. Most surprising of all, I started writing again.

My second grade teacher ran a writers workshop and I remember falling in love with words that year (this was also the same year I started reading Harry Potter, so it was solidified early on that I’d be an English major). Learning that I could make a page come alive with my words and create my own stories opened up a whole new world for my little, bookish self. The pandemic sucks, but it turned me towards writing and once again it opened up a whole new world for my still little, still bookish self.

Thus, the blog was born. This is my space to write. My little creative corner of the internet. I review books and talk about camping and hiking. I post too many picture of my dog. And sometimes I post about the rambling thoughts I had over my morning coffee.

I currently live in a little house in a little town in Southern Minnesota with my boyfriend, Jacob, and our dog Millie. If I’m not writing, or reading, or camping and hiking, I’m probably dancing to Taylor Swift in my kitchen. I still don’t know what tomorrow is going to look like, but I’m going to keep my promise and live a creative life.
