February Mini Reviews: The Vanishing Half, Reckless Girls, A Slow Fire Burning

Despite it being a slow reading month, I’d say overall it was great in terms of content. The Vanishing Half, a contemporary fiction novel, kicked off February with a strong start. Both Reckless Girls and A Slow Fire Burning were quick and fun thrillers, and I’m surprised by how much I liked them both. 

Beautiful World, Where Are You: Review

Beautiful World Where Are You follows Alice, Eileen, Simon, and Felix as they ponder their sadness, fall in love and fall out of love. Four adults nearing or in their thirties who don’t know where or when they took a wrong turn in life, but they’re having sex and at the very least don’t wish they were dead. Along the way they wonder where is beauty, what is beauty?

Filthy Animals: Review

core of the short story collection are a series of linked stories exploring the stories and love affairs of three characters, each suffering in their own inner turmoil. These interconnected stories are surrounded by the tales of a nanny, a group of teenagers, and young adults dealing with death and love. What each of the stories share is a dichotomy of love and violence.
